Kelly Lin, pianist
Kelly Yu-Chieh Lin, a sought-after pianist, began her musical studies at an early age on the piano, violin, viola, and er-hu. Soon after she was winning national competitions and awards on all instruments in Taiwan. Moved to the United States at the age of 13, Miss Lin has performed with the Eastern Music Festival Philharmonic and the Symphony Orchestra, the Idyllwild Arts Academy Orchestra, and the Santa Barbara Symphony. In 1996 she was the winner at the Chinese- American Competition. In 2000, she was awarded second place in the LA Philharmonic Piano Competition. Miss Lin studied at the Idyllwild Arts Academy with Nelms McKelvain, where she graduated with the Most Promising Artist Award. She then earned Bachelor and master degrees at the University of Southern California, where she studied with John Perry with full scholarship. Miss Lin is now pursuing Doctorate of Music Art with Daniel Epstein at Rutgers University, where she received full scholarship with a teaching assistantship.
